“Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete with it shall be measured to you again.” (Luke 6:38)

God’s provision during a recession

The Lord knows the days of the upright and their inheritance shall be forever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time and the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
(Psalms 37:18-19)

This promise is for today.  The recession and economic woes we experience today is no less a hardship than were the famines in biblical times.  It is the experience of lack, whether it be rain, crops or money and affects everyone.  Is there lack in your life today?

Test the Lord and see that He is faithful.

This is not a time to stop giving, but rather to start TRUSTING!

God doesn’t want our money because He needs it…rather, because we need Him.  He wants our love, our trust our heart.

Is He Lord of your heart?  Can you trust Him enough with all of your life’s resources?

God is still providing, and He expects us to trust Him in our giving!  It becomes an issue of the heart.  We give because we love and we trust God for the rest.

A lack of giving is saying we don’t trust God to provide for us.  We are trusting in the here and now, looking around and seeing the economy struggling when we need to be looking up and Trusting God with all we have.

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that you will always have all sufficiency in all things and may abound to every good work.
(2 Corinthians 9:8)

There are two requirements toward receiving
all sufficiency in all things from God

Number 1

But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all of these things shall be added to you.
(Matthew 6:33)

In the next verse, Jesus said do not worry about tomorrow. If we seek God first He will provide all we need. He can not lie, and is true to His Word.

Do not seek money or material goods; seek God first and the rest will follow, your needs will be meet.  Your wants, if not in God’s will, become a burden and we become slaves to debt.

Number 2

If anyone would not work, neither should he eat.
(2 Thessalonians 3:10)

There is no recession in Heaven and God is well able to provide for his people during this recession and he will. God owns it all, we are merely His stewards of the blessings He has provided.

Trust God and seek God and Jesus said everything we need shall be added unto us.

What a privilege to give back what has
been already given to us!

Can anyone outgive God!

Some Quotes on Giving

Make all you can, save all you can, give all you can. ~ John Wesley

It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.
~ Mother Teresa

If a person gets his attitude toward money straight, it will help straighten out almost every other area in his life. ~ Billy Graham

Remember this you can’t serve God and Money, but you can serve God with money. ~ Selwyn Hughes

Worry looks around, sorry looks back, Faith looks up. ~ Unknown

It is more blessed to give than to receive. ~ Jesus, in Acts 20:35

As base a thing as money often is, yet it can be transmuted into everlasting treasure. It can be converted into food for the hungry and clothing for the poor. It can keep a missionary actively winning lost men to the light of the gospel and thus transmute itself into heavenly values. Any temporal possession can be turned into everlasting wealth. Whatever is given to Christ is immediately touched with immortality. ~ A.W. Tozer (1897-1963), American pastor and writer

There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more, and there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want. The generous man will be prosperous, and he who waters will himself be watered.
(Proverbs 11:24-25)

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.
(Malachi 3:10)

Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed.
(2 Corinthians 9:6-8)
